ABOUT AROUND GREECE

Around Greece began with a simple idea: to showcase the Greece we knew and loved, and to help people discover more of the country. In 2002, Around Greece started as a father and son project, created from a shared passion for travel, photography, the internet and the many incredible places that can be found throughout Greece. What began as a small project has grown into one of the longest-running online travel guides dedicated to Greece and the Greek islands.

Our journey started in Pelion, a beautiful peninsula in mainland Greece that, at the time, was relatively unknown outside the country. We wanted to introduce travellers to its spectacular combination of mountain landscapes, traditional villages, forests, beaches and coastline. Over the years, Pelion became an increasingly popular destination for both Greek and international visitors, and it was the perfect place for us to begin our journey of exploring and promoting Greece.

We ❤️ Travelling Around Greece & the Greek Islands

As the years passed, Around Greece grew far beyond Pelion. We began covering destinations throughout mainland Greece and the Greek islands, from famous holiday destinations to smaller towns, villages, beaches and places that were often overlooked by traditional travel guides.

Our Greece travel guide has continued to grow alongside the country itself, providing information and inspiration for travellers looking to discover everything from ancient archaeological sites and spectacular beaches to local food, culture, nature and outdoor adventures.

Twenty-five years later, our passion for discovering Greece hasn't changed. What has changed is the way people plan and experience their travels. From the early days of the internet, when online travel information was still in its infancy, to today's world of smartphones, social media and digital travel planning, Around Greece has evolved with the times while remaining focused on the same goal: helping travellers discover more of Greece.

To celebrate 25 years of Around Greece, we are taking the next step in our journey with the launch of our new digital travel magazine in 2027. The magazine will bring together the experience we've gained over a quarter of a century, with inspiring destinations, travel stories, ideas, guides, photography and discoveries from across Greece. It will be created for travellers who want to go beyond the obvious and experience more of what makes Greece such a fascinating and diverse country.

Our new magazine is also part of a much larger project. We are currently developing a completely updated version of the Around Greece website, bringing together our extensive destination knowledge with a fresh approach to discovering and planning travel in Greece. As we look towards the next 25 years, we want to continue doing what we have always done: finding places worth visiting, telling their stories and inspiring people to explore a little further.

From a father and son project that began in 2002 to a new generation now joining the journey, Around Greece has truly become a family story. Twenty-five years on, the son who helped start the project is now a father himself, and his own son is becoming part of the Around Greece journey. As we celebrate our 25th anniversary and look towards the next 25 years, the passion for discovering Greece and sharing it with the world continues to be passed from one generation to the next.

Alongside the recipes, we'll explore the ingredients, traditions and stories behind the food, giving you another way to experience Greece long after your holiday has ended.

Real Estate & Property

For many people, a visit to Greece eventually becomes something more. Our real estate section will explore opportunities across the country, from traditional village homes and island properties to seaside houses, plots of land and investment opportunities. We'll also look at different regions and what makes them attractive for those considering buying a holiday home, relocating or investing in Greece.

Family & Kids Section

Greece is a fantastic country for families, with adventures and discoveries around almost every corner. Our Kids Around Greece Section will introduce younger readers to Greece through fun facts, stories, activities, puzzles, quizzes, mythology, history and fascinating places to explore. It's designed to make discovering Greece enjoyable for the whole family, while being both fun and educational at the same time.

After 25 years of exploring Greece, we've learned that some of the best discoveries don't come from guidebooks. They come from people who live here, people who return year after year, and travellers who have stumbled across a special place, a memorable experience or a story worth sharing. That's why we want the new Around Greece magazine to be something that you can be part of too.
